Most software is engineered first and decorated later. We work the other way round.
In most technology companies, design arrives late, as a coat of paint on decisions already made in code. The result is software that works on paper and confuses people in practice. Customers rarely complain about it. They simply stop using it, and the redesign budget grows every year.
At vi-tech, design was never a department added on. It is where the company began, and it still has a seat at the top table. Every product starts with the people who will use it, and our designers and engineers work as one team from the first sketch to the final release.

Six kinds of design work, one standard: decisions backed by evidence and designs that survive contact with real code.
Six layers under every screen we design.
A beautiful screen can still fail. These six layers decide whether people understand it, trust it and get their job done. Tap a marker to look inside.

One in six people lives with a disability. Most websites still shut them out.
Accessibility used to be a nice-to-have. Since June 2025 the European Accessibility Act has made it a legal requirement for many digital products and services sold in the EU, from online shops to banking apps. Yet the web is getting less accessible, not more, and every barrier is a customer turned away.

Accessible by default
Contrast, focus states and labels are built into every component, so accessibility doesn’t depend on someone remembering.
Tested the way people use it

Six stages. Opinions go in, evidence comes out.
We test early and often, so decisions are settled by what users do, not by whoever argues loudest in the meeting.

Different problems need different design work.

Some of our screens are read at 3am, on a moving ship, by someone who hasn’t slept.
Our maritime and marine salvage work taught us what design is really for. On a bridge or a salvage barge, interfaces are used in glare and darkness, with gloves on, in heavy weather and under pressure, where a confusing alarm or a buried button costs far more than a lost sale. Designing for those conditions made us obsessive about clarity, and every client benefits from it.
